Dorado is not only a home, it is a lifestyle!
A golfer’s haven and tourist destination, Dorado is located on the northern coast of Puerto Rico, just 15 miles west of the capital of San Juan. It started as a ward of the town of Toa Baja in the early 1800s and became its own municipality in 1842. With mild winter temperatures and hot, humid weather throughout the summer, Dorado is a great location for water and outdoor activities.
Dorado Neighborhoods
Dorado Beach- a legendary luxury Caribbean hideaway and private sanctuary.
In 1905, Dr. Alfred T. Livingston, a prominent New Yorker, came to Dorado with his family to develop a citrus plantation. When he died, he left the entire plantation and estate to his daughter Clara. She immediately took charge and also added a private airport. She was a pioneer in aviation and friend of legendary pilot Amelia Earhart.
In 1955, conservationist Laurence S. Rockefeller came to PR searching for the perfect spot to build a Caribbean luxury eco-resort. Dorado’s pristine northern coast became the home of the first ROC Resort. Rockefeller hired Mr. Robert Trent Jones, Sr. to develop a unique golf experience in Dorado and to attract golfers from all over the world. This passion evolved in the completion of four major golf courses within the 1,400-acre private luxury resort.
Today, Rockefeller’s legacy, vision and passion are still alive in Dorado Beach. This is mainly attributable to Mr. Federico M. Stubbe, chairman & founder of PRISA Group, a family-owned PR based development business that had the vision to transform and bring to Dorado Beach the first Ritz Carlton Reserve Resort in the Americas, a World-Class 6 star hotel.

Sabanera Dorado – a community that embraces the values of nature, well-being, family, education, happiness, fun and tranquility.
In 2002, Mr. Federico M. Stubbe opened the doors to Sabanera Dorado - a unique residential community that stands out and differs from the rest. Stubbe’s passion, energy, vision and dreams led him to found one of the most esteemed private schools in the island, TASIS Dorado (The American School in Switzerland) within the Sabanera Dorado community. This school is what makes the Sabanera Dorado community a big family. Sabanera is not only a place that you call home, it’s also a lifestyle.
Today, Sabanera Dorado is home to almost 600 families and TASIS Dorado has over 700 students plus it has already been ranked by the Middle States Association within the top 10% of the schools in the U.S. region.
